One of my favorite families! We shot at a newly-scouted nook in the Arboretum during mid-morning. Ideally I shoot an hour after sunrise or an hour before sunset, but during the Spring and Summer months, that means starting photo shoots at 6am or 8pm, which isn’t always ideal with young children. Even on overcast days like this one, you can get great shots. A typical family photo session includes the following shots: a family portrait, portrait of each child, children together, and each parent with their children. Lately I’ve been ending shoots with a couple portrait of the parents too. I find it’s often a neglected shot, but one they’re grateful to have! I try to do a mix of look-at-the-camera photos, as well as candids thrown in for fun.
