This lifestyle newborn session at home in Seattle was a dream! As a baby and newborn photographer, it’s always a joy to take a child’s first professional photos. This family was so sweet, and their stylish home with oodles of light made a gorgeous backdrop for baby’s photos.
Newborn photo shoots are often scheduled in the first two weeks, but if it’s easier or more comfortable to do them later, that’s okay too! This baby was about 2 months old – still teeny tiny but big enough that he smiled more, which makes for great candid photos. The photo session is anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour, depending on how often baby needs to eat or requires breaks for care.
Dogs are welcome at the shoot! They’re part of the family. Sometimes we get some initial photos with pup, then put them in another part of the house to finish the photography session with fewer distractions.
If you’d like to book newborn photography, you can schedule an appointment online or reach out via email. Some parents will contact me in their first trimester, and add a maternity photo shoot too, or they’ll wait until after the baby is born, when they know for sure they want professional pictures.
All my newborn photo packages include a private online gallery, a digital download of the hi res edited images, and all the photos in color, with some black and white copies. While shooting, I do a lot of candid poses, along with classic look-at-the-camera shots too. If find my family clients like both.
My newborn photography shot list includes: lots of baby portraits in multiple poses, baby with mom, baby with dad, baby with dog if applicable!, detail shots of fingers and toes, and still photos of the nursery (stuffed animals, books, crib, etc.). I’m constantly looking for those in-between moments like Dad handing the baby to mom, mom kissing baby’s head, or the dog licking baby’s hands. Capturing those natural lifestyle moments is important and beautiful!
I love being a Seattle newborn photographer, it’s the best!
All my sessions include access to a digital style guide with what-to-wear tips, color palette suggestions, and dos and don’ts around clothing, outfits, and simple props you might want for your baby’s first photo shoot.
