New Packaging! // Erin Schedler Photography
I have been working on some fun and secret projects for my business the past couple months, and am THRILLED to finally share this one! Erin Schedler Photography finally has new packaging! Over the years, I’ve watched so many clients eagerly await their photos, then tell me it’s like Christmas when they finally get them in the mail. It was important to me when considering the new design, then, that the package and all its elements be special, handmade and personalized wherever possible. It should feel just like a present to open! Below is a description of each element and the thought behind it.
Buh bye outdated discs! I had too many clients tell me their DVD didn’t read when they put it in their computer, or that they didn’t even own a device with a disc drive anymore! It was an easy decision to update to the more practical and current USB media.
PRINTS + MINI BOOK
All my signature portrait packages will include a packet of 10 prints and a sweet little mini book. A lot of photographers make you pay extra if you want prints, and don’t include digital images. I feel this goes against how images are shared and used these days! Most people store and display photos on their phones, computers, and tablets, and rarely take the time to print anymore. So, as I’ve always done, you still get all the hi-res images to use as you please and, out of the box, you’ll have some 4×6 photos to frame and display at work or home too. The mini book is a sweet little product offered by my lab, and one I couldn’t ignore. Just a fun gift from me to you!
CUSTOM MAP CARD
When designing the thank you notes, it occurred to me that I could maybe come up with a piece clients wanted to keep rather than toss in the garbage. The map idea was born! I worked with the wonderful Emily at Fresh Paper Studios to create a custom map of Puget Sound. I use a little vintage camera stamp to mark the client’s home -another personalization. My hope is that some people will find it pretty enough to display on their fridge or frame for a wall.
Under the gift look and feel idea, I had to call on my oh-so-talented friend Ellen at Letters By Ellen Calligraphy. She worked her magic and created the beautiful text for the map cards, belly bands to wrap around the printed materials, and custom gift tags for the outside of the box. There are different versions of the tag for each of my photo categories – newborn, family, engagement and wedding. I could not be happier and more in love with her work!
Save for the USBs and ribbon, which can be re-used, I chose all recycled and recyclable materials in consideration of the environment. Some of you know my last work was in sustainability, and running my business in an environmentally friendly way is important to me, and many clients.
I’m looking forward to shipping you one of these pretty boxes soon!
