If you’re looking for candid, natural baby portraits for your newborn at home, I’d love to work with you! My sessions are about an hour, and we capture 2-3 backgrounds of baby (outfit, swaddled, and diaper), family together, baby with each parents, and siblings if applicable. Dogs and grandparents are welcome too! My goal is just sweet, simple poses and timeless pictures that document this special time in your family’s journey. Candids too!
Now booking outdoor Summer sunset sessions at the beach, Discovery Park, Magnuson Park, and other beautiful locations around Seattle. Golden hour light is the prettiest of the day, and guaranteed to get you beautiful family portraits. Family photography is busiest between June and November, so I recommend scheduling your photo shoot soon.
One of my favorite Summer locations! Join me for a petite sunset family photography session with cliff and sound views, and a sunset beach setting. Offered June 15th (1 appointment left!) and August 2nd (sold out). Outdoor, golden hour family photos are my favorite and offer some of the best light all year. Book online under Specials.
They’re back! Mountain photo shoots are some of my most popular sessions for Seattle family photography. This gorgeous spot is just an hour from the city and offers stunning PNW backdrops for your family portraits. Offered in July and August, these sessions are sold out but the waitlist is open. Magical!
RELAXED AND NATURAL POSING
“I don’t love having my photo taken, will you tell me what to do?” Of course! While I’m not a super-posed family photographer, I will give you some light direction and avoid awkward poses. I’ll encourage you to relax, play and snuggle with your children. I’ll set up tickle fights, ask kids to run into your arms, give each other giant bear hugs, or say “boogers!” as loud as they can. When kids (and grown-ups) are truly having fun, we get their genuine smiles and the best candid photography. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know if you’re making goofy faces, have a double chin, or are standing in an awkward way. I’ll make you look good!
LOOK-AT-THE-CAMERA AND CANDID
I adore lifestyle imagery and lots of candid moments, but understand clients want classic look-at-the-camera family portraits too. We’ll do a mix of both styles, along with a number of backgrounds, so you have a variety of images to choose from in your final gallery. If you prefer candid more than posed, or vice versa, just let me know and I’ll shoot accordingly.
BEAUTY IN THE CHAOS
After 20 years as a Seattle family photographer, one of three things often happens on photo day: kids get sick, skip their nap, or scratch their face. Please don’t stress! Imperfect is normal (and I can edit out scratches)! If your child starts to fuss, we stop for a snack, snuggle, or go for a little walk. Usually after a “reset” they’re ready to jump back into the photo shoot. My camera fires 6 frames a second – if children only give me a few good minutes of smiles, that’s an entire gallery of good images. Beauty in the chaos is my motto.
my philosophy
Think of your favorite photo. My guess is it wasn’t taken by saying cheese or posing awkwardly for the camera. So why should a photographer ask you to do either? A good photographer doesn’t force a shot. They set their subject at ease, evoke a feeling, or prompt a candid moment and photograph the result. I design and direct my family photo sessions around this concept. Fun, connected sessions produce fun, connected photos. Simple as that.
about me
While attending college at UW 20 years ago, I apprenticed under a fantastic Seattle family photographer, shooting weddings and learning the trade. Committed to my “plan”, however, I completed my masters in business and spent a decade in sales and marketing, keeping photography a side hustle on weekends. After my son was born in 2012, I could no longer ignore my calling. I quit my job and became a full-time Seattle photographer. Photography never ceases to challenge or excite me. I love this work, love growing my art, and will undoubtedly still have a camera in my hand when I’m 90.
